Wart Prevention and Removal
If you had the choice of a natural painless remedy over surgery for a medical condition, which would you choose? Just the anticipation of the pain from needles and incisions is enough to make most people balk. Even after the procedure is completed they could be left with scars. And if this is not enough to scare someone away from surgery, think about the price of medical procedures provided by doctors. Many times, one surgery isn’t always enough to get rid of the problem; sometimes it takes several painful treatments.
Actions You Can Take to Prevent Warts
Boosting your immune system is one of the best ways to reduce viruses that cause warts. Eating healthy is a great way to start. Balancing your diet with a variety of fruits and vegetables that are rich in vitamin C, which is an antioxidant vitamin, and Zinc, which is an essential mineral, improves the strength of your immune system. One of the best sources of vitamin C is peaches, one cup of peaches provides 235 mgs of vitamin C. Other great vitamin C sources are red bell peppers, strawberries, cantaloupe, and broccoli and of course many peoples favorite, oranges. Or taking vitamin C supplements also helps, and 1200 milligrams of vitamin C should be taken every day.
Also foods that contain a powerful vitamin like substance, flavonoids can help to keep the immune system healthy. These can be found in dark chocolate, tea, onions, tomatoes, apple skin, blue berries and oats, plus a lot of other foods.
Foods that are high in Zinc are great sources to build your immune system. It is recommended that an adult not take over 12 mg per day, as to much may interfere with your body’s ability to absorb other vitamins and minerals. Some great sources for Zinc are pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, ground beef and turkey. The added benefit of Zinc is that it helps reduce the length of the common cold. You should have this in your diet even if you are not trying to get rid of warts.

Using a common household item, Duct tape, is another way some claim to remove warts. You can try this at home but it may take several applications over several weeks to see results. First you cut a piece of Duct tape just large enough to cover the wart. Leave it on the wart for about a week. Then remove the tape and soak the wart infected area in warm water. Next scrub the wart with a pumice stone. If it does not come out, do this procedure again. Try it for at least two more weeks, hopefully you should see results after this time.
Another method to remove warts involves Aloe Vera gel. Apply a small amount of the gel to gauze or a cotton ball and tape it to the wart. Repeat this procedure every few hours. After a few days the wart should be gone. Other methods that claim to work are rubbing the wart with a banana peel or cod liver oil several times a day for few weeks.
The treatments are not hard, but they may work. They are easy to use and anyone can try them and may be effective most the time. If you want the wart removed immediately, than seeing a dermatologist and having it surgically removed may be your best option, but remember, the warts often come back, and this is a very expensive and often painful option.
